Malawi Congress Party (MCP) is Malawi’s oldest party that led the country to independence under the leadership of the late Ngwazi Dr. H. Kamuzu Banda. The MCP enjoys grassroots support and currently boasts the largest representation of members of parliament (MPs) in the national assembly. Since the advent of pluralism, the MCP has positively embraced the system, continuing to fight for a better Malawi.

For example, it is under the leadership of Hon. JZU Tembo and his fight in parliament that agricultural subsidies came to materialize. Yet the DPP regime, which was initially against these subsidies, decided to take full credit. Malawians cannot be fooled.

Inherently, our party has continued to stress the importance of food security, a good educational system, an improved health care system, security, peace and stability for Malawi. The MCP cherishes this democracy as a gift from the late Ngwazi to the people of Malawi (Kamuzu honourably accepted pluralism) and therefore as a party, we could not be more honoured to ensure that it bears fruits instead of regressing. Fellow Malawians, we have been regressing.

You will also recall that instead of relying on the mining industry, Kamuzu promoted agriculture because the majority of Malawians had access to the resource of land. This meant that those who tilled the land could directly benefited from it. While we are welcoming and supporting the mining industry into Malawi, we are certain that the environmental impact concerns will be taken more seriously under MCP. But most importantly, the Tembo-Mpinganjira regime will ensure accountability of all proceeds from the mining industry. We are yet to see that under the incumbent DPP regime. Kamuzu was well aware that Malawi was rich in mineral resources but refrained from being selfish to use the resources for for the benefit of a few.

The MCP leadership is passionate and committed to improving the lives of the people of Malawi regardless of their standing in society. MCP will work for you and continue to fight for the vulnerable and make sure the voices of the people are heard and their needs are addressed through the proper channels.

Once again, under the leadership of JZU Tembo, the MCP is ready to lead. To those who were caught up in the moment and supported other parties hoping for a better day, we say, it is time to give the MCP another look. They have failed you. We are the most desciplined, yet a very forward-looking party. And today, we ask you to join us. Lets make Malawi great ! Vote TEMBO-MPINGANJIRA
